As one of the first employees at Better.com in 2013, I helped to build one of the first online mortgage experiences in the US. By automating a lot of the mortgage workflow, Better.com keeps costs low for its customers.
First concepts of the pre-approval application
In the early stages of better.com’s inception, our first MVP was solely based on getting people quick, 2-minute pre-approvals, only requiring a soft credit check. The thinking behind this was we could build trust in the industry by providing to customers that they didn’t have to settle for a large bank to get a letter to bid on their home.
After launching pre-approval and an A series round, we began to build the better.com brand.
